PATH is a bulk billing service which provides treatment for adults presenting with a variety of issues or challenges. The Staff at PATH are experienced and compassionate psychologists. They are passionate and motivated about aiding their clients to achieve their individual potential. PATH aim to increase access to psychological services to all people independent of their financial situation.

I use a range of approaches to tailor an appropriate individual treatment plan including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, motivational interviewing and play therapy. I have experience working with a range of environments such as individual and group psychological therapy, education and drug/alcohol rehabilitation.

Dr John Livingston is a Townsville local, an Australian Defence Force Veteran and a registered Clinical Psychologist with more than 25 years’ experience in both Australia and overseas as a clinician, manager and operational officer.
John has a special interest in the areas of anxiety, disability, autism, occupational stress, neurotherapies, brain-hacking and training, and has undertaken specialist training in diverse areas including Behaviour Management and Positive Practices with the Institute of Applied Behaviour Analysis, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR).
When not at work John divides his time between his family, participating in charity fundraising activities (e.g. The Townsville to Cairns Bike Ride) and is currently undertaking further studies in Medicine.

His favourite mantra is, “The strongest swords are made in the hottest furnaces.” Matt specialises in working with adults (over 18yrs to 100yrs) Complex PTSD. He gained his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from James Cook University and has a Masters in Psychology from the University of Hertfordshire, UK. He has also trained (online) over 9 months with Boston Trauma Centre when the renowned Dr Bessel Van Der Kolk was medical director. Dr van der Kolk wrote the renowned “The Body Keeps the Score”, considered the bible on trauma and recommends, body focused treatments such as yoga, as well as EMDR and neurofeedback, amongst other treatments, for trauma. Matt is trained in: EMDR as well as being certified practitioner in an advanced version of EMDR – Brainspotting, both for individuals and groups. He has recently returned from the USA where he trained in “Accelerated Resolution Therapy” which also uses eye movements for the rapid resolution of trauma.
He is also trained in Neurofeedback. He is a certified Trauma Releasing Exercises Instructor which is a body focused technique taught to militaries and emergency services globally. He is a certified Buteyko Method (breathwork) Instructor and a certified Wim Hof Method Instructor. He also a Heart Math Resilience Advantage (breathwork) instructor. Matt also has a coaching certification from Cambridge University. He is currently training as a yoga teacher.
Matt is originally from Liverpool, North of England and has lived in Queensland Australia for over 10 years. Like most Liverpudlians, he is best known for his likeable natural warm, cheeky sense of humour which is typical of his Liverpool/Irish heritage. He has a real “can do” attitude when overcoming challenges. He has been self employed for most of his life and has also served as a police officer and in the Royal Navy. His resourcefulness stems from his interesting and varied life experiences. He once hitch-hiked 10,000 miles around the USA – with no money!

Mr Stuart Osborne

Stuart is a psychologist with a background in trauma therapy and disabilities. He is passionate about helping adults and young people work through their challenges to reach their potential. Stuart’s professional interests include therapy for depression, eating disorders, anxiety, addiction, phobias, stress and trauma. He also enjoys working with defence members, veterans and their families through Open Arms and DVA referrals. In the past, Stuart has worked in corporate settings teaching strategies to reduce anxiety, stress and burnout. Stuart is enthusiastic about supporting individuals to understand the importance of maintaining good mental health and wellbeing. He is currently developing meditation and mindfulness courses to be delivered in corporate and community group settings.
On a personal level, Stuart brings a great deal of life experience to his practice as he was homeless for a period in his teens and suffered PTSD as a result. In his twenties he became a Buddhist monk and wrote a memoir about his experience of monastery life and healing his traumas. This journey has allowed Stuart to approach his psychology practice with empathy and optimism. Professionally, Stuart spent 20 years as a Buddhist monk in the Tibetan tradition learning meditation and mindfulness techniques before returning to Australia to enrol at James Cook University. There he graduated with a Bachelor of Psychology degree with Honours.

Mr Luke Jackson

Luke has had a number of careers in education and information technology, and now works as a psychologist - having gained his degree in 2016 from James Cook University. Luke enjoys making psychology accessible to folks that might not traditionally feel they need it and enjoys promoting mens mental health initiatives in particular. Luke has organised various charity events over the past decade combining his love of motorcycling and psychology (The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride organiser, and Psychs on Bikes member). He is a supporter of just about anything that can extend mental health initiatives to regional and remote areas. He has experience and skills in mainstream counselling techniques, such as CBT and ACT, but is also interested in technology based treatments like Virtual Reality for exposure therapy. Helping people navigate social anxiety and agoraphobia in a practical, safe manner, is one of the things he enjoys most. Having lived in Townsville almost his whole life, Luke quietly hopes that by promoting mental health and healthy community that everyone can look after those neighbours who are alone or elderly and restore trust in our daily interactions with each other. While he waits for that to happen, he's working on restoring old motorcycles and a WW2 truck in his shed with his ex-race greyhound, Phil.
Mrs Bree Millsom
Registered Counsellor
Bree joined our team in 2019 as practice manager and is now registered as a counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association. Her focus has always been assisting people access services and support to improve their mental wellbeing. Bree completed her Bachelor of community welfare in 2002 and is due to complete her Master of Counselling in June 2025.
Bree has over 20 years experience providing case management, and support services, with a strong focus on youth. Her professional focus is to help individuals gain personal insights and develop individualised strategies based on personal strengths to overcome their personal challenges and struggles.
Bree recognises that you “can’t pour from an empty cup” and would like to help you identify what “fills your cup.”

Michelle joined our team in 2024 and has taken on the role as Practise manager. Michelle holds a certificate 3 in community services with experience leading a team over 40 employees in her field. Michelle has also worked in various case management roles and is passionate about advocating for those aged and less advantaged. Michelle’s enjoys supporting the daily operations of our clinic to ensure our clients needs and expectations are being met.

Tanya has been with PATH since 2020 and is our senior administrative assistant. Tanya brings a warmness to our waiting area and focuses on making our clients feel welcome.
